About Us

YoWangdu is a neighborly online store for cards, clothing and gifts that supports education and culture projects in Tibet. In addition to our core Tibetan styles, we offer an eclectic selection of inspiring designs from our gifted artist friends. In the San Francisco Bay Area we also offer web building, computer set up and digital photography services to ease your life online.

YoWangdu is owned and operated by Lobsang Wangdu, a Tibetan-American webmaster, photographer and computer professional with over ten years experience, in addition to many years of volunteer service for the Tibetan Association of Northern California. Having long dreamed of using his photography and technical skills to run his own business, Lobsang created YoWangdu in 2009, with a business mantra of “spreading joy.” Partnering with a community of artists and computer professionals, he thrives on making his clients happy with exceptional customer service, and is inspired by the motivation to contribute to much-needed education projects in Tibet.

Spreading Joy, and Education…YoWangdu contributes at least 10% of our profits to support Tibetan education and cultural preservation inside Tibet and in the San Francisco Bay Area Tibetan community. For some of our products, such as cards or prints with the image of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, 100% of the proceeds go to the efforts of the Tibetan Association of Northern California to build a Tibetan Community Center

How do you say "YoWangdu," and what the heck does it mean?

"YoWangdu" is pronounced:

"yo" like yo-yo
"wang" like wrong with no "r"
and "du" like "dude" :-)

Our name comes from the "wang" in Lobsang Wangdu's second name, along with "yo" from his wife Yolanda.
